A current account despite a poor credit record — the honest route.

Yes, an account is achievable even with a difficult credit file — and no, nobody can seriously promise it: the bank always decides on the opening. Here is what really works, what an active account builds for your credit file, and what we expressly do not promise.

Why an active account builds your credit file

Risk models read behaviour: regular receipts, punctual debits and no returned direct debits build the history banks want to see. One cleanly run account ends the chaos that causes many negative entries — and the card is the goal of the next stage, never a promise.

The route via FIAON

Open your FIAON account in two minutes, have your credit file from SCHUFA, KSV and CRIF checked and tidied up, then the prepared application goes to the partner institution. The bank decides on the opening under its own rules — we never leave that sentence out.

What we do not promise

No guaranteed account opening, no card as a promise, no deletion of justified entries, no score tuning overnight. The basic account under Section 31 ZKG is your legal right independent of us — both routes are compared in the table.

  • Basic account: legal entitlement, credit basis, sometimes expensive
  • FIAON route: full current account as the goal, credit file cleaned up in parallel

Frequently asked questions

Can I really get a current account despite a negative SCHUFA record?

An account on a credit basis is achievable for most people — and in Germany there is even a legal right to a basic account (Section 31 ZKG). FIAON prepares the route and tidies up the credit file; the bank itself always decides on the opening. That is exactly why we promise no opening — but a cleanly prepared application.

What does an active account do for my credit file?

A well-run account with regular receipts and punctual debits generates over time exactly the data that risk models read positively: stability, history, reliability. It is no magic trick and does not work overnight — it is the foundation on which everything else builds.

What is the difference between a basic account and the account via FIAON?

The basic account is your legal right at every bank that runs accounts — credit basis, full basic functions, but often comparatively expensive and with no route to a card or a limit. The FIAON route aims at a full current account with the partner including a card as the GOAL — combined with the tidying-up of your credit file. Both routes are in the table on this page.

Does FIAON run accounts itself?

No. FIAON is not a bank. Account and card come from the partner institution; FIAON obtains and checks your reports, prepares the application and accompanies the route. The bank decides on opening, card and limit under its own rules.

How long does the route to an account take?

The FIAON application takes about two minutes. After that the pace depends on two things: how quickly the credit bureaus deliver (days to about four weeks) and how the bank decides. Nobody seriously promises you a fixed date here — but you see every step in your customer area.

Does the account application at FIAON cost extra?

The route to an account is part of the FIAON plans; the prices are transparent on the pricing page. There is no success commission on an account opening — so our guidance stays free of wrong incentives.

What happens if the bank refuses?

Then we tell you honestly — with what can be derived from the credit file: which entries get in the way, which can be challenged, what the 100-day rule can achieve. Often the refusal is the start of the real work: tidy up the credit file, then apply again. A legal right to the basic account always remains alongside.
